Murabahah Trade Finance Product Relaunch
A mid-sized Islamic bank needed to restructure an existing trade finance product after its Syariah committee identified concerns with the cost-disclosure methodology under IFSA 2013.
Mestika Legal reviewed the existing product terms, advised on a revised cost-disclosure framework aligned with BNM's product transparency standards, and updated all standard facility documentation. Workshops were conducted with the product and Syariah teams jointly.
Product relaunched with no further committee objections. Deployed across three branch networks.
Cross-Border Syariah Governance Alignment
A takaful group with operations in Malaysia and two Gulf Cooperation Council jurisdictions required alignment of their Syariah governance policies across all entities.
The team mapped each jurisdiction's Syariah governance requirements, identified areas of divergence, and drafted a group-level Syariah governance policy with jurisdiction-specific annexures. Coordination was maintained with local counsel in each GCC country.

A government-linked company required full legal advisory support for a RM 500 million Wakalah sukuk programme, from structure selection through SC registration and issuance.
Mestika Legal advised on programme structure, prepared the trust deed and principal agreement, coordinated with the rating agency on Syariah-related queries, and managed SC filing. Syariah endorsement was procured from an independent Syariah advisory firm as required.
First tranche of RM 200M closed within programme timeline. Secondary market trading commenced two weeks post-issuance.
